Zaylai Publishing Project
The ZF feasibility study in 2005 indicated a pressing need for publishing services in order to ensure a healthier growth of educational establishments. Prof. Hussein Toohow who is in charge of the UNESCO national curriculum team expressed the problems they faced with publishing and said
The shortage of adequate printing and publishing services in
Somalia cost us huge sums of money which we could have provided with more
books for schools if some of such cost could have been saved.
Acting as a Publisher, Zaylai Publishing will:
- Promote and publish the works of the local writers and distribute them in the to national and international markets.
- Distribute and sell foreign books and other educational and informative materials to local markets, in order to expand the reading and the learning choices for the readers.
Activities
- Publishing and promoting the work of the local writers.
- Transforming the oral based history and information into a written material.
- Publishing all material that contribute towards social development.
- Preserving and publishing the rare scripts and distinctive materials that hold historical and/or educational importance.
