If your employer offers a payroll giving scheme such as Give As You Earn, your donation to Zaylai Foundation can be taken from your salary at source, before it's taxed. This way, a donation of £10 a month effectively ‘costs' £7.80. For higher tax rate payers, that same £10 donation would ‘cost' a mere £6.
With Give As You Earn – the UK's largest payroll giving scheme – you can give directly from your pre-tax salary, so money that would normally go to the taxman goes to charity instead. You just decide how much you want to give each month – it could be a couple of pounds, or hundreds or thousands – and who you want to give it to. Then your donation comes out of your pay packet before the taxman touches it. Give As You Earn makes giving easy and flexible way in which you can give.
If your employer already operates Give As You Earn, you just have to let your payroll department know that you want to participate. You give them details of how much you want to give and which charity or charities you want to give to, and they sort out the rest. If your employer doesn't run Give As You Earn, and you and your colleagues think they should, just ask us to contact them. For more information visit www.payrollgivingcentre.org.uk.
